Assigning group permissions to a user

User Directory access is required.
Administrators can assign users to various groups within the system to better control their module access.
This article walks you through the process of assigning permissions through groups.
1. Assigning groups
To assign groups to a user:
- Navigate to the User Directory.
- Click the Pen icon in the user row.
- Click the Groups icon.
- Tick all groups you want to add the user to.
Have a look at the group permissions overview if you are unsure which ones to select.
- Click Add to finish assigning the groups.
2. Permissions overview
| Group | Permissions |
| administrator | This permission level allows a user to add/edit users within your user directory and assign permission levels to them. It doesn't allow admin access to your PolicyConnect site by default, you must also assign the user policyconnect_administrator privileges. |
| policyconnect_administrator | This permission level allows a user access to the administrator features of your PolicyConnect site. If adding a user to this group, do not add the user to the policyconnect_user or policyconnect_groupadministrator groups as well. |
| policyconnect_board_governance | This permission level allows a user to see the Board Governance module. It doesn't allow access to your PolicyConnect site by default, you must also assign the user policyconnect_user privileges. |
| policyconnect_hr_administrator | This permission level allows a user to to access the HR Administration module. It doesn't allow access to your PolicyConnect site by default, you must also assign the user policyconnect_user privileges. |
| policyconnect_user | This permission level allows a user to access the PolicyConnect site. |
| safetripbuilder_approvers | This permission level allows a user to approve trips. |
| safetripbuilder_users | This permission level allows a user to access the SafeTripBuilder site. |
