STB - Student Medical and Ratios
The High-Risk Student Medical Conditions section hosts a group of checklists that must be completed for selected medical conditions. Medical conditions can be added by selecting the drop-down 'Add High-Risk Student Medical Conditions Type'. A new checklist will become available to complete.
A ratio of students to teachers will be calculated from the data you input under Staff and Student Supervision.
If a medical condition is selected, the Checklists can be completed by clicking 'Complete Checklist.'
Once you click 'Complete Checklist', a pop-up window will appear with the applicable Checklist.
Additional information for PlanCheckGo Next Gen customers
Student medical information is pulled from the data entered in Safe Trip Builder — all mappings and student information are now accessible only in Safe Trip Builder. Both medical and ratio information can be added or amended in this space.
Within each Checklist, select the risk control strategies that will be used in planning and running the excursion. Each strategy can be selected by ticking the checkbox on the left-hand side. As the questions are worded, *"[Strategy] has been or will be implemented..." the boxes can be ticked as long as you agree to implement the control before the excursion takes place. Click 'Save'.
You can enter comments, by clicking on the 'Comment' button.*
Saving vs closing a checklist
Save keeps the checklist in its current state — any items you have checked off and any comments you have added are saved.
Close discards your changes, reverting the checklist to how it was before you opened it.
If you add a new medical condition — or add students to your selection that introduce a new medical condition — a new checklist is generated for it and will need to be completed.
Viewing the policy behind a checklist
Each checklist has a corresponding policy you can view if you would like to understand why a particular control needs to be checked off. Click View Policy (next to Complete Checklist) and a pop-up window will appear with the specific policy. You can export these later.
Wonde, TASS or Sentral (SIS) integration
This applies to any supported student information system (SIS) integration — Wonde, TASS or Sentral API — whether you use Safe Trip Builder as a standalone risk assessment tool or with PlanCheckGo Next Gen.
For a Wonde, TASS or Sentral integration, you select the students for the excursion first. The relevant high-risk medical conditions are then identified automatically from the selected students, and the matching checklists only become available to complete once students have been selected.
Below is an example of a Safe Trip Builder site which has a Wonde, TASS or Sentral API integration. Out of the students who have been selected in the excursion, medical conditions data has been pulled from the integration and has identified that there are students with Asthma and Anaphylactic Allergies attending the excursion.
Note: Hayfever was detected but is not a medical condition supported by Safe Trip Builder, so it lacks a checklist or policy.
Safe Trip Builder only and PlanCheckGo Next Gen customers
There may be medical conditions in your group of students attending the excursion that are not currently supported in STB. As there is no checklist or policy, the controls should be documented somewhere in your risk assessment and you will need to follow your school's process for managing student high-risk medical conditions. A suggestion is to use the additional information section to capture this information.
You can log a request for a new supported medical condition, by following the feedback process.
Click 'Save and Continue' at the bottom of the staff and student supervision section once you have selected the relevant Student Medical conditions (if any) and completed the checklists and entered the number of students and teachers attending the excursion.
