1. What happens when I export a report in Assurance?
When you export your report in Assurance, it goes into a queue in the background for processing. There is no way to guarantee any user's place in the queue.
You will receive an export in progress message. Please feel free to close the message and work on something else while Assurance is processing the report for you. You will be notified in the Notifications area once your report has been processed.
2. How long does it take to export a report in Assurance?
The vast majority of reports with filters are typically processed in a couple of moments (and there is some concurrency).
You can keep track of the status of your report in the Notifications area. When your report is being processed, you will receive a 'build in progress' message.
When the report is processed, you will be notified in the Notifications area by a 'report is ready' message as indicated by the red notification bell icon.
3. Why is my report taking so long to export in Assurance?
You report may be taking longer to export if it is:
- A complex report (for example, one with lots of dependent, nested or formula fields), and/or
- A large report (one that has lots of responses to it, and/or lots of fields generally)
Please be patient. Some reports may also take longer than usual to process especially during peak periods when the background server is experiencing high volumes of requests.
Please note
Selecting the Export button multiple times may cause further delays as this will cause Assurance to restart the process of gathering the data for your report.
4. How can I export a large report in Assurance?
4.1. Applying field filters
We strongly recommend that you apply field filters to avoid the inclusion of unnecessary data and to speed up the process of generating a report. To learn more about applying field filters, please refer to our help article on How to Create and Customise an Assurance Report.
4.2 Setting up a report subscription
Rather than waiting for your report, why not set up a report subscription? Assurance will send the report directly to your mailbox at the selected frequency.
4.3 Exporting from the list screen
Consider exporting the report directly from the relevant function in Assurance. For example, configuring the columns and applying field filters in the register list view will yield the same results as exporting a register & forms report.
4.4 Integrating via the Assurance API
We also encourage users with large and/or complex reports to export them via the API snapshot routine. It is generally faster, and users can automate it with business intelligence tools like PowerBI. To learn more about using the Assurance API to generate reports, please refer to our help article on How to Generate Large API Reports in Assurance and How to Automate API Reports in Assurance.
