Customising the Risk Dashboard in Assurance

Full user type is required. Your access rights will determine the amount of data visible.
The Risk Dashboard provides real-time visibility into your organisation's risk posture through interactive snapshots. Use this dashboard to monitor risk trends, identify overdue reviews and actions, and support compliance reporting.
1. Accessing the Risk Dashboard
To access the Risk Dashboard:
- Select Dashboards from the main navigation bar
- Select Risk Dashboard from the available dashboards list
2. Configuring the Risk Dashboard
Access more options by selecting the ellipses icon in the top-right corner of a snapshot. Use the crossed arrows icon to reposition snapshots by dragging and dropping them to different locations on the dashboard.
2.1. Settings
- Apply filters specific to that snapshot.
- Filters apply only to the selected snapshot.
- Select Apply to update the snapshot.
2.2 Save As
- Save the current snapshot configuration as a custom view
- Useful for creating frequently-used filter combinations
- Saved snapshots can be added to custom dashboards
2.3. Download
- Export the snapshot as a JPG image file
- Captures the current view with all applied filters
- Useful for presentations, reports, or email communications
2.4. Remove
- Remove the snapshot from your dashboard view
- Does not delete the snapshot—only hides it from your current view
- You can re-add snapshots by selecting Add Snapshot
3. Understanding the snapshots available on the Risk Dashboard
3.1. Risk
Purpose: Visualise where your risks sit on your organisation's risk matrix based on likelihood and consequence ratings.
The matrix displays your current residual risks plotted according to your configured risk matrix setup. Each cell displays the count of risks with that specific rating combination.
To explore risks: Select any cell to view the complete list of risks with that specific likelihood and consequence rating combination.
Best used for: Executive reporting, identifying risks outside appetite, quarterly risk reviews
3.2. Risk Gap
Purpose: Monitor how many risks exceed or are meeting their target risk levels. This snapshot compares current residual risk against target risk ratings, typically showing:
- Above Target: Number of risks currently above their target risk level (typically highlighted)
- Equal to Target or Below Target: Number of risks meeting or exceeding their treatment objectives
To explore risks: Select any category to view the filtered risk list.
Best used for: Risk treatment planning, demonstrating progress toward risk appetite, board reporting on risk management effectiveness
3.3. Risk By Risk Classification
Purpose: Understand your risk distribution across different risk types or categories.
This horizontal bar chart breaks down risks by classification, with each bar segmented by risk rating severity.
To explore risks:
- Hover over any bar segment to see the exact percentage and count
- Select a segment to drill down into those specific risks
Best used for: Identifying which risk classifications require the most attention, portfolio-level risk reporting, resource allocation planning
3.4. Risk Tasks Trend
Purpose: Track completion rates of actions assigned to risk treatments over time.
This line chart shows trends over time for tasks linked to risks, with separate lines for different action statuses (e.g., Completed, In Progress, Overdue, Not Started).
To explore tasks:
- Hover over any point on a line to see the exact count for that period
- Select a line in the legend to isolate that status
- Select any data point to view the task list for that specific period and status
Best used for: Monitoring risk treatment effectiveness, identifying resource bottlenecks, demonstrating continuous improvement
3.5. Risk by Business Unit
Purpose: View risk distribution across your organisational structure.
This horizontal bar chart segments risks by business unit, with each bar showing the breakdown of risk ratings within that unit.
To explore risks:
- Hover over any segment to view percentage and count
- Select a segment to see the detailed risk list for that business unit and rating
Best used for: Divisional risk reporting, comparing risk profiles across departments, allocating risk resources, holding business unit leaders accountable
3.6. Overdue Risk Reviews
Purpose: Identify risks with overdue periodic reviews to maintain compliance with your review schedule.
This chart displays overdue risk reviews segmented by time period and risk rating, helping you prioritise which overdue reviews to address first.
To explore risks:
- Hover over any segment to see the exact count
- Select a segment to view the list of overdue risks for immediate action
Best used for: Risk governance compliance, prioritising review activities, audit evidence of active risk management
3.7. Risk Trend
Purpose: Analyse how your overall risk profile changes over time.
This line chart shows the count of risks at each rating level over your selected time period, with separate lines for each risk rating level.
To explore trends:
- Hover over any line to see the count of risks at that rating for the specific interval
- Select a rating in the legend to isolate that line and hide others
- Select any data point to view the risks that existed at that rating during that interval
Best used for: Demonstrating risk reduction over time, identifying emerging risk patterns, supporting maturity assessments, long-term trend analysis for strategic planning
3.8. Risk Task Status by Categories
Purpose: Monitor the status of risk treatment actions organised by task category.
This stacked horizontal bar chart shows tasks linked to risks, grouped by category (e.g., Control Design, Control Testing, Remediation), with each bar segmented by task status.
To explore tasks: Select any segment to view the filtered task list for that category and status combination.
Best used for: Understanding workload distribution, identifying bottlenecks in specific treatment types, resource planning, tracking action progress
3.9. Risk Checklist Trend
Purpose: Track completion rates of checklists associated with risk assessments over time.
This line chart displays trends for checklists linked to risks over time, typically showing statuses such as due versus completed.
To explore checklists:
- Hover over any point to see the count for that period and status
- Select a status in the legend to focus on that line
- Select any data point to view the specific checklists from that interval
Best used for: Monitoring risk assessment completion, ensuring regular risk evaluations occur, compliance with assessment schedules, identifying patterns in risk review activity
3.10. Risk Classifications
Purpose: View a simple count and breakdown of risks by classification type.
This chart provides a high-level view of how many risks exist in each classification category.
To explore risks: Select any segment to view all risks within that classification.
Best used for: Quick portfolio overview, executive dashboards, identifying dominant risk types, understanding your organisation's primary risk focus areas
3.11. Control Rating Breakdown by Residual Risk
Purpose: Assess the relationship between control effectiveness and residual risk levels.
This grouped bar chart displays risks organised by their control effectiveness rating, with each bar segmented by residual risk rating.
To explore risks:
- Hover over any bar segment to see the count
- Select a segment to view risks with that specific control rating and residual risk combination
Best used for: Control effectiveness reviews, validating that controls are achieving intended risk reduction, prioritising control improvements, audit preparation
3.12. Overdue Tasks by Risk Rating
Purpose: Identify which risk severity levels have the most overdue treatment actions, helping you prioritise overdue work.
This chart shows the count of overdue tasks linked to risks, broken down by time period overdue and the associated risk's rating.
To explore tasks: Select any segment to view the overdue tasks associated with risks at that severity level and time period.
Best used for: Prioritising overdue work, demonstrating attention to high-severity risks, workload management, identifying chronic delays in risk treatment
