How to Mark Assignments and Certificates
Marking an Assignment
The Assignment learning item in a course can be used for tracking proof of completion certificates from external providers. Assignments must be 'marked' by a Content Administrator.
There are three ways to mark assignments. The third method via 'Administer' and 'Enrolments' is much the same as the second method below, but you will need to apply an additional filter for 'Title' to find the course you are needing to mark assignments for.
1. 'My Teaching' section
1. Go to My Teaching
2. Select Assessments
3. Select All pending assessments
4. Select Mark assignment on each individual certificate
5. Select Download file to view the certificate. The certificate opens in a new window for viewing and (optionally) saving to your computer if you need to maintain offline records.
6. Click Add feedback if there is information to communicate to the user (e.g. "You've uploaded an incorrect document")
7. Complete Mark this assignment. The passing grade is set when the course is created. For external training, it is usually set at 100%.
8. Set Did this user pass this enrolment? to Yes. If selecting No, add feedback to ensure the user understands what the issue is.
9. Click Update
2. Course Reports
1. Go to the Course
2. Select the Reports tab (in the middle of Overview and Settings tabs)
3. Filter the report by Type equals Assignment and Pass equals Pending Review
4. Under the Action column, for each user, click the three-dot button
5. Select Mark submission
6. Click Download file to view the certificate. The certificate opens in a new window for viewing and (optionally) saving to your computer if you need to maintain offline records.
7. Click Add feedback if there is information to communicate to the user (e.g. "You've uploaded an incorrect document")
8. Complete Mark this assignment. The passing grade is set when the course is created. For external training, it is usually set at 100%.
9. Set Did this user pass this enrolment? to Yes. If selecting No, add feedback to ensure the user understands what the issue is.
