What Happens When You Change a Field on a Form in Assurance
| Change | When would you use this | Impact to existing data |
| Update the display of a Single-Select or Multi-Select field from Radio button to Drop-down | If you want the option to de-select a selection on a form, if made by accident. This cannot be done with radio buttons. | No impact. Existing data will remain. |
| Make a field inactive | The field is no longer required | Data will only be available in the 'History'. Consider creating a new field first, moving the existing data to that field, then make the old field inactive. |
| Update a field answer | The answer has changed | Updating a field answer, rather than removing it means that the existing data in logged registers/forms will be updated to the new version of that answer. |
| Make answers on a field inactive | Former answers are now redundant | The system will allow you to make this change, however be mindful the previous data will only be available in the 'History' of each form. Consider exporting the original answers and re-importing to a relevant new field or new answers once the new answers are created. |
