2. Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I'm using the Ideagen Policy Logic IdP?
If you see an Assurance login screen with your organisation name and company logo, along with text "Ideagen Policy Logic uses your network Single Sign On (SSO) credentials to log in to Assurance" and a blue "Continue with SSO" button, you're currently using the Ideagen Policy Logic IdP and should migrate to native SAML.
Do I need to migrate right now?
We strongly recommend migrating as soon as possible. This gives you time to test thoroughly and avoids potential issues as the Ideagen Policy Logic IdP is gradually phased out.
Will my users need new login credentials?
No! Users will continue using the same credentials they use for your existing identity provider (Entra ID, Google, Okta, etc.). Only the connection between your identity provider and our platform is changing.
How long will the re-configuration take?
Most IT administrators complete the re-configuration in 30-60 minutes, including testing time. Complex configurations may take longer.
What if something goes wrong during migration?
We can revert back to the Ideagen Policy Logic IdP configuration. Your current SSO setup remains available until it has been disabled. Contact our support team once you are ready to migrate.
Will there be any downtime for users?
No downtime is expected. You can configure the new SAML integration while the Ideagen Policy Logic IdP remains active. Switch over only when you're ready.
Do I need to update anything in my identity provider (Entra ID, Google, Okta, etc.)?
Yes, you'll need to create a new SAML application in your identity provider. However, this doesn't affect your existing user accounts or other applications.
What happens to my existing user permissions and roles?
All user permissions, roles, and group memberships remain exactly the same. We're only changing how users authenticate, not what they can access.
What if my identity provider isn't listed as an option?
Most SAML 2.0 compliant identity providers should work. However, we cannot provide specific technical support for every vendor.
Who can help me if I get stuck?
Our SSO guides are designed for self-service migration. For complex configurations, you may want to involve your identity provider's documentation or support.
Will the new SSO have all the same features as the Ideagen Policy Logic IdP?
Yes! The native SAML integration in Assurance provides the same authentication capabilities with improved reliability and security.
What if I have other products that also use the Ideagen Policy Logic IdP?
Self-service migration is currently supported in Assurance only. Stayed tuned for further updates on other products that also use the Ideagen Policy Logic IdP.
