Using the Tools Panel to Edit Content
We are excited to announce the new Tools Panel in Policy Connect.
The Tools Panel, enables Administrators to find and answer all questions needed to set-up a page of content, in one place. It all contains the Page History, so Administrators can compare versions and restore content for User Generated Pages
The Tools Panel is visible for Administrators on each page of content within your site.
To open the Tools Panel click on either the top or bottom icons.
There are 2 main tabs on the Tools Panel.
- The Edit Content Tab
2. The Page History Tab
The Edit Content Tab
The Edit Content Tab has a number of useful features.
Filters
There are two types of filters:
- Filter by Requirement:
- Required: questions that must be completed to finish setting-up a page.
- Optional: questions that are not required, but often provide more flexibility in terms of what's included in the content.
- Filter by Completion Status:
- Complete: only questions that are complete will be shown.
- Incomplete: use this filter to focus only on questions that still need to be completed.
Questions
There is a dedicated section of the Edit Content tab, that shows you all the questions available for you to set up your page.
Each question includes:
- an instruction, so you know what to answer
- an indicator showing you whether the question is required (required questions are marked with an asterisks*}
- an indicator showing you whether the question is complete
There are two types of questions:
1. Fill in the blank type questions
- Read the instruction and click into the field box to begin providing your answer.
- You can also select Use placeholder text to adopt Ideagen's suggested content. This will immediately mark the question as complete, and ensure that any future changes made by the content team automatically flow through to your site.
- If you see "Click here to view/edit" then when you click into the field box a larger modal will appear. This is because there is text with advanced formatting, such as an image, a table, a hyperlink, bullet points, etc.
- You can then use the expand button to shift the modal into full screen, or make your changes and press OK.
- Once you have selected OK, the modal will close and you will see the Cancel and Save changes buttons appear. Select Save changes button to save your work.
- Once you select Save changes you can move onto the next question.
- A success banner will appear when the changes have been made.
2. Yes/No questions
- These type of questions include a toggle and either show or hide content on the page
- If your answer is "No", you will need to tick the "Mark as complete" checkbox.
- If your answer is "Yes", simply use the toggle to switch to the answer "Yes".
Progress Bar
The Progress Bar is another useful feature, that helps administrators know how far they are along in setting up each page of content.
