Who is this article for?

Plan Check Go is required.
Plan Check Go Next Generation is here. Keeping students safe across all school activities with a more connected, flexible, and intuitive excursion management experience. This page answers the key questions about what is changing, when it is happening, and how Ideagen will support your school every step of the way.
I have seen a notification in Plan Check Go saying it will be retired. What does this mean?
You may have seen a message that Plan Check Go will be retired. This is a notification we have placed in the platform to let all current users know about the upcoming upgrade. We encourage you to get in touch as soon as possible so your upgarde can be planned comfortably.
What is happening to Legacy Plan Check Go?
Plan Check Go is being upgraded. The current version sometimes referred to as Legacy PCG will be retired from 30 June 2026. It is being replaced by Plan Check Go Next Generation which is now available within the Ideagen Assurance platform.
This is not a loss of functionality. PCG Next Gen brings a familiar interface, a more connected excursion process, and features that were not possible in the legacy platform.
Why is Legacy Plan Check Go being retired?
The current version of Plan Check Go has limitations that many schools have encountered over time: static forms that are difficult to navigate, rigid workflows with little flexibility, and risk assessments that had to be completed in a separate tab that was disconnected from the excursion form itself. PCG Next Gen addresses all of these.
What does Plan Check Go Next Generation offer?
PCG Next Gen delivers three core improvements for schools:
- Customisable workflow: Navigate between form sections freely and move through approval stages on your terms, without being locked into a rigid sequence.
- Flexible approvals: Configure your own approval stages and processes. PCG Next Gen gives you control over how excursions move from proposal through to final approval.
- Seamless risk assessment: Safe Trip Builder is now embedded directly within the excursion form. Complete your risk assessment without leaving the page.
All staff who need access can be set up as users. And with Ideagen Hub, you can access all of your Ideagen products through a single login.

What happens to our existing data?
Your existing Plan Check Go data will not be automatically transferred to the new platform. If you would like a copy of your records, we can arrange a data export prior to your upgrade date. Please note that attachments are not included in the export.
It is important to request this before your upgrade takes place, as data retrieval will not be possible once the legacy platform has been retired.
What does the upgrade process look like?

Do we need to do anything right now?
The most important step is to contact your Ideagen account manager to confirm your upgrade date. From there, our team will work with you to assist with technical setup and configuration. Please get in touch if we have not already reached out to you. You can also schedule a time that suits you using the PCG Next Gen booking page.
What if we use a student management system integration with Safe Trip Builder?
Any existing student management system integration with Safe Trip Builder will carry over as-is when you upgrade to PCG Next Gen.
If your school is planning to switch to a different student management system or add a new integration, please let your account manager know early in the conversation, as this may require a separate scoping exercise to assess feasibility and any associated costs.
What if the retirement date does not work for our school?
Please speak to your account manager as soon as possible. We understand that different schools have different circumstances and we want to work with you to find the best path forward.
Who do I contact if I have further questions?
Reach out to your Ideagen account manager directly. If you are unsure who to contact, please open a Success request and we will connect you with the right person.
