How to Edit a Task/Action Assignment in Assurance
An assigned task or action can be updated when it is already assigned to take into account supporting information or escalation notifications, however, if a due date is edited this will not update the existing assignment on the To Do list even if the task or action is showing that it is updated in the Register.
Only once the To Do list assignments are cleared will the updated due date take effect if it is a repeated assignment. See this article for more information.

The following updated information will reflect on existing task or action assignments straight away:
- Requirements for mandatory Comments or Evidence e.g. as per the screenshot, where the assignee is now required to add a comment if they mark the task/action as 'in progress' or 'cannot do' and they are required to attach evidence if they mark the task/action as 'done'
- Any updates to text fields such as Instructions or Task Assignment Details, if you have added this field type in the task/action layout section so it is available to populate on your task/action assignments
- Any linked Registers/Forms - however please bear in mind that if the assignee is a Lite user or a Full user without access to the linked Register, they will not be able to view the linked data
- Depending on the status of the task/action and how long to the due date or Overdue - Notifications before and after the due date settings, Escalation and Notification on Progress or on Completion settings.
For example, if the task/action is already in progress, an updated setting for notification on progress would not send, but an updated setting on completion would send once the task/action is completed.
If the task/action is overdue, a notification before the due date would not send, but a notification after the due date would send.
How to update task/action assignment settings
Select the 'Assignment Key' under the 'Assignments' tab and then select Edit directly on the assignment.
